I’m Sam Scribner, a quadriplegic photographer and filmmaker based in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Through Muels Apparel and my surf films, I share stories of resilience, my passion for action sports, and the beauty of Florida’s surf culture. Muels started as a way to promote my work, but it’s grown into a platform for creativity and connection. Every piece I create, from clothing to photography, is a reminder that everyone has a weight they carry—and the strength to keep going. If you’re into unique perspectives and want to support an independent artist, check out Muels Apparel or my latest films.

Surfing to Me

Hearing I was never going to walk again was not easy, but I think one of the most difficult things was returning to the beach after my injury. I remember sitting at a park by myself sobbing as I watched young kids frolic in the shore break. At that point, I had to accept my new reality. After a year of trying to re-acclimate myself with my newly paralyzed body, I found photography and thus a new way to interact with surfing again.
